NEW YORK - Crocs Inc. is taking a new step to closely align itself with the family-oriented soccer crowd.

On Monday, Team Championships International, a unit of private equity firm Blue Equity, said Crocs is the official sponsor of the 2008 national Kick-It Tour, a three-on-three soccer tournament expected to attract roughly 500,000 spectators and participants in more than five major cities.

A Crocs spokeswoman said this is the first time the company has sponsored this tour, for which Crocs will be the only leisure footwear sponsor. In addition to Crocs, other sponsors of the tour include Dick's Sporting Goods, Disney's Wide World of Sports and Sports Illustrated for Kids.

The championship game at the World 3v3 Soccer Championships at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex in Orlando, Fla., is expected to attract more than 1,000 teams in both competitive and recreational divisions and 6,000 players ranging in age from 5 years to 30 years.

Crocs plans to award a pair of shoes to all winning teams from each division.
