Fedor Emelianenko is the greatest MMA fighter in history. He is the current WAMMA Heavyweight Champion of the World and the former PRIDE Heavyweight Champion. Emelianenko has been considered the best heavyweight fighter in the world for the last five years by many major publications, including the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, ESPN, Sports Illustrated, The Fight Network, the Houston Chronicle, The Wrestling Observer, and Inside MMA. His sole loss, via doctor stoppage due to a cut from an illegal blow, is considered a mere technicality, which he decisively avenged. Fedor's background in martial arts is in sambo and judo and he has received the designation of Master of sports in both disciplines.

Fedor was born in 1976 in the Ukrainian city of Rubezhnoe. His family moved to Russia a few years after he was born. He has an older sister and two younger brothers. Aleksander is also a professional mixed martial arts fighter and Ivan is currently training to one-day join his brothers at the professional level.
